IFD College Certificate in Funeral Practice (Cert.FP) holders now eligible to join BIFD
A recent meeting was held between IFD College Chairman - Darren Carpenter, Director of Education - David Peasgood, Chris Parker and representatives of the British Institute of Funeral Directors (BIFD).
The BIFD were keen to investigate the value of our IFD College awards in comparison with other industry awards in order to offer membership to IFD College alumni. We were able to confirm that Cert.FP holders had all successfully achieved between 37 and 56 credits depending on the route which they chose to obtain their Cert.FP. Open College Network, our awarding body, confirm that a credit level of 37 or above is equivalent to educational diploma level. In view of this the BIFD have opened the door to Cert.FP holders to apply for membership. Those with less credits or who are working towards Cert.FP may apply for Associate membership of the BIFD.
Chris Parker, former Director of Education said “The requirement for Cert.FP holders to engage in continued professional development (CPD) is something which we have been considering for some time. As CPD is a condition of membership of the BIFD I welcome this move as a way in which our former students can continue to expand their knowledge and professionalism.”
Application forms for both Full and Associate membership can be downloaded from the IFD College website on the password protected student area.
